The IWC Big Pilot’s watch perpetual calendar top gun edition “Mojave Desert” and the IWC Big Pilot’s watch top gun edition “Mojave Desert” are the two new top gun watches that IWC Schaffhausen launched at the digital watches and Wonders exhibition.
IWC Mojave Desert
IWC Mojave Desert watches are created for the most extreme aviation conditions, and they challenge every idea of what a civilian watch can be. The watches also feature extraordinary cases that are inspired by the unforgiving desert. They are made of uniquely created sand colored ceramic which makes the timepiece one of the hardest materials on the planet.
About Iwc Mojave Desert and Iwc Mojave Desert Perpetual Calendar
IWC first launched the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun version of Mojave Desert in 2019. It is the first watch with a case made of sand-coloured ceramic. The barren and dry landscape of China Lake inspired the design. And now, the sand-coloured ceramic is used for the cases of the two new Big Pilot’s Watches. The two models have a dark brown subdued dial with sand-coloured luminous material and sand-coloured rubber straps with textile inlays.
The Iwc Mojave Desert and Iwc Mojave Desert Perpetual Calendar are created from robust and corrosion-resistant materials like titanium and ceramics, and this makes them able to withstand the arduous duties of an elite US Navy pilot. Due to its extreme hardness and scratch-resistant ceramic, it is great for daily use in the tough confines of a jet’s cockpit.

The Iwc Mojave Desert reference IW506003 measures 46mm in diameter and 14.6mm in thickness, while the perpetual calendar reference IW503004 gauges up to 46.5mm in diameter and 15.6mm in thickness. They also feature proper IWC in-house calibres. The IWC 52615 movement powers the Mojave Desert, while the IWC 52110 movement powers the Perpetual Calendar. Both watches also have a handy power reserve indicator at the 3 o’clock position. On the three-hander, it is supported by a discreetly placed and neatly colour-coordinated date aperture at 6 o’clock, while the perpetual brings the full fleet of calendar displays.
IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Top Gun Edition “Mojave Desert” Ref. IW506003
This is the first Big Pilot’s Watch to be designed in sand-coloured ceramic. The sand-coloured ceramic case is distinguished by pure raw materials and greatly complex production processes used in manufacturing it.
At work in the case is the IWC-manufactured 52110 calibre with Pellaton winding, two barrels and a seven-day power reserve. The movement has a soft-iron inner cage that protects it from the effects of magnetic fields. Also, the Top Gun logo is inscribed on the titanium case.
The Mojave Desert watch also features a monochromatic design. It has a dark brown dial and hands, subdued printing and luminescent material, sand-coloured rubber strap with textile inlay that blends perfectly with the ceramic case.

IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Top Gun Edition “Mojave Desert” Watch Ref. IW503004
This watch showcases the IWC’s legendary perpetual calendar in a sand-coloured ceramic case. It is one of the most intriguing haute horlogerie complications and it is mechanically programmed for 577 years. The ingenious mechanical program, which automatically identifies different month lengths and leap years, was developed in the early 1980s by IWC’s former head watchmaker Kurt Klaus. Its moon-phase depicts the moon phase for the northern and southern hemispheres and just needs to be adjusted by one day after 577.5 years.
The perpetual calendar can be advanced easily through a single crown because its displays are perfectly synchronized. Its calendar component is constructed from 82 individual parts. It features a four-digit year display and is powered by the IWC-manufactured 52615 calibre.
