The 4 Affordable Perpetual Calendar Watch

The 4 Affordable Perpetual Calendar Watch

Another affordable perpetual calendar on our list comes from the famous Citizen. This is another super high-end perpetual calendar watch by Citizen, and I think that by looking just at the dial, you can tell that this watch means business, which is also the reason it is such a bestseller.

Do not assume that it is the cheaper perpetual calendar version; it does not only show the same indications that a QP apartment-priced watches do, but it also has a domestically made automatic movement, which sits atop another domestically made perpetual, which is the same size as the diameter of the watch. This is one very unique watch because it comes with perhaps the most unique feature in perpetual calendars, all dates are written down, rather than displayed on a circle as on most watches.

Citizens’ version of a perpetual calendar watch is less confusing than Tissots due to how its perpetual complications are presented on its black dial. What makes Citizens perpetual calendar watch design unique is its choice of placing months along the edge of the dial, as well as on the bezel, where they are marked above each silver hour mark. In fact, some just display the date, whereas some of the more complicated perpetual calendar watches include a leap year marker, a day/night marker, the moon phases displayed, etc.

While the calendar function is just about the date on its own, there is something fascinating about a timepiece that looks just like your average chronograph, and the date does not need to be corrected to the year 2101. Just to counteract what we have just said about IWC, the perpetual calendar is a highly desired complication too, one that would be right at home on a dress watch with discrete, nicely balanced features. The Seiko SPC129P1 could not only double up as a good dress watch, but it could also be an interesting sports watch, too, thanks to its chronograph function.

Just looking at the Citizen BL8140-55E, you can already tell that this watch has some unique features. Other interesting features of the Seiko SPC129P1 (that are not obvious by looking at it) are its luminescent hands and the alarm. Additional features on this G-shock watch include the Japanese quartz movement, a perpetual calendar and date functions, an LED backlight, a digital tachymeter, and a 20m water-resistance rating.

Additional features on this Citizen Calibre 8700 include protective sapphire crystal glass, a tachymeter, a perpetual calendar, and a spectacular 200m water resistance rating. The Tissot perpetual calendar is powered by Swiss quartz ETA G15.561 and is designed to have a 99ft water resistant rating, meaning that it is designed to come into contact only with water, like washing your hands, or simply squirting liquid.

Available with various colors for the dial, Tissot’s approach to creating a cost-effective perpetual calendar is laudable, and the Tradition perpetual calendar looks to be one of the best value Calendar watches. At 15,000 Euros (about $22,595), Montblanc is definitely one of the more affordable watches that have this complexity.
