The heart stealing Audemars Piguet called the Royal Oak: The Blue ceramic perpetual
The first Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar from Audemars Piguet features an entirely blue ceramic case and band.
Virtually indestructible, ceramic can tolerate high temperatures and thermal shocks, but because of its extreme hardness, manufacturing ceramic provides a significant financial and labor problem.
The case is distinguished by its distinctive 41 mm x 9.5 mm octagonal bezel that is held in place by eight readily visible hexagonal screws. Despite having a screw-locked crown, water resistance is only promised up to 2 bars of pressure, or around 20 meters (66 feet).
In contrast to the blue of the “Grande Tapisserie” dial, subdials, and inner bezel, the white gold applied hour markers and Royal Oak hands, both filled with Super-LumiNova, stand out.
The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar also displays the day, date, month, astronomical moon, week of the year, leap year, and time.
The in-house caliber 5134, which is visible through the transparent sapphire crystal of the titanium case back, beats at the unusual frequency of 2.75 Hz (19,800 vibrations per hour) and promises a power reserve of 40 hours. This means that you must wind it every day to maintain the accuracy of the perpetual calendar indications.
A titanium folding clasp holds the incorporated ceramic bracelet to the wrist.
