2023 has been a great year for watchmaking irrespective of the decline of the market prices. The sheer volume of releases has been great. Now, it seems like there are more watch brands than ever, and lots of brands continue to surprise and excite us with truly great designs.

That being said, I have chosen some of the best watches of 2023 for you. The retail prices and list prices of some of these timepieces have been given below. However, some of the prices are available only on request. Nonetheless, here are some of the best watch releases in 2023.
Daytona 126599TRU
List Price: $440,00
Rolex’s new products stole the show at Watches & Wonders in April. This timepiece had a great deal of attention and it also aroused the most amazement and curiosity due to its ‘out-of-the-box’ features.
This Daytona was released in white gold and two in yellow gold respectively, one had a pave dial and the other had none. There are the references 126599TRU and 126598TRU, two gem-set versions of the new 2023 Daytona model in white gold and yellow gold embellished with a set of rubies on the bezel and hour markers.

The shape and the mysteriousness of this model have made it become one of the most well-known and iconic watches in watchmaking. Cartier keeps the attention on this timepiece alive with the new platinum model unveiled in July. The material used for the watch is a novelty for the Crash ‘London’. Therefore, the use of platinum is a very interesting choice on the part of the Maison, which decided to reinterpret this design instead of faithfully remaking it. Just like the first Crash model from 1967, this timepiece can only be purchased from the store on New Bond Street in London.

GRAND COMPLICATION 5204G – 001

Patek Philippe has recently reworked one of its grand classics and has adorned it with a white-gold case and an olive-green sunburst dial with a black gradation to the periphery. It is a chord of colours that is contemporary and timeless. This model Ref. 5204G-001 features the manually wound calibre CHR 29-535 PS Q movement, traditional architecture, and seven patented innovations.
The 5240G combines two of Patek Philippe’s most coveted grand complications. It is one of the most complicated watches that the brand offers. Also, in addition to a perpetual calendar, it features a split-second chronograph, all encased in a white gold case.

This is one of the recent collections launched by the brand and Audemars Piguet is working hard on it. It often recommends new materials, new dials, and new complications such as in this case the flying tourbillon. This timepiece is fully set with brilliant-cut diamonds, that convey more light into the open-worked perpetual calendar movement that is visible through a sapphire dial. It has an 18-carat white gold case set with brilliant-cut diamonds, an 18-carat white gold bezel set with baguette-cut diamonds, a glare-proofed sapphire crystal and case back, screw-locked crown. It is a timepiece that generated very strong interest in the secondary market. Everything that the market demands today is packed into this watch.

This timepiece is inspired by a jigsaw puzzle with colourful pieces set against a monochrome with an orange case background, each representing one of life’s key moments. It has s small window at 3 o’clock that discloses one of 31 exclusive emoji each day instead of the date.

Royal Oak 16202XT.OO.1240XT.01

This model was released in September, and it features major changes in both the dial and the material used. Its colour is a smoky burgundy red dial, which is a similar workmanship to what was seen on the 16202PT. Currently, Audemars has been using smoked dials frequently, and the use is not limited to the Royal Oak only but is also very common on Code 11.59.
The materials used for this model are titanium and BMG, or bulk metallic glass. This variety was used in 2021 in the 15202XT sold at auction by Only Watch, but this is the first time it is been used for a Royal Oak in production and not for a prototype.
Richard Mille RM 67-02 ‘Italy’

The RM 67-02 is the lightest Richard Mille automatic as it has a total weight of only 32 grams. It has a skeletonized titanium movement that features hand-painted dial bridges in black with green, white and red exteriors, about the colours of the Italian flag.
The watch was released in February, and there has not been a lot of hype especially since it is a limited edition of only a few pieces of which official indications are still difficult to find even now. However, the mystery surrounding this release is what makes it such an interesting novelty. The watch also has been seen on the wrists of Ferrari’s F1 pilots and Italian rapper Guè.
Royal oak “Cactus Jack” 1/1

The collaboration between rapper Travis Scott and Royal Oak has made the latest model one of the most talked-about highlights in recent days. During the collaboration launch event, Travis wore a unique watch that is likely to be one-of-a-kind. It had a rose gold bezel that was embellished with diamonds to create the classic “Rainbow” effect.
