The Rolex Datejust 36 and 41 watches have a large variety of colors and dial options, and the minute and hour markers are either indices, Arabic numerals, Roman numerals, or even gemstone-set.

Attracting a public desire for greater customization and differentiation, Datejust 36 and 41mm watches were launched with an extremely broad variety of dial designs.

The Datejust IIs 41mm Oyster case, broad lugs, and a wider Oyster bracelet meant that men wanting to wear the brand’s larger dress watches now had one go-to model.

Rolex Datejust has measured 36mm for decades, but with the market continuing to adopt larger watches, the larger Datejust seemed a logical next step.

When Rolex decided to follow the XL watch trend, it introduced the 41mm Datejust II. Both versions of Rolex Datejust had different colors on their dials, from black to a Champagne-colored dial, to an ivory-colored one, etc.

Both these Datejust 41mm watches had a date displayed on their dials in the 3-hour position and included the Cyclops lens which fits over the crystal.

The Datejust II is produced on only a 3-link Oyster bracelet, whereas the other Datejust 41mm gives you the choice of an Oyster bracelet or the dressier 5-link Jubilee bracelet, like the Datejust 36.

While the early Datejust was available in only 18k yellow gold and was equipped with a Jubilee bracelet, eventually this line became the brand’s most versatile lineup of models, produced in an array of styles, materials, and, as we will see later, sizes.

This model is actually part of the new Datejust 36 Collection launched at Baselworld 2018, showcasing a new calibre, the 3235, along with a few revised case lugs and sides.
